LPHS Lacrosse Off-Season Conditioning Program

Important: This describes the off-season Training Program used by the Lone Peak High School Boys Lacrosse team. This is a non-mandatory program designed to help LPHS lacrosse players come into the season more prepared for High School Lacrosse Season.

ree

This year we have put together a program with Stroformance that is focused on developing the speed and explosiveness required by the sport of lacrosse.

Program Overview:

The program will start during the week of July 28 and will run for 4 months. The program will involve two speed training classes per week and will cost $99. Participants can opt into a 3-day plan for $149. The fees are payable through Stroformance and is a significant discount from their standard fees.

While this program is not required, it is strongly encouraged. Players that participate in this program will show up to the lacrosse season in better shape, faster, less prone to injuries and more confident. This applies to all athletes. Our goal is to have 80% of our players enrolled in the program.

Below are questions you may have about the program and how it will work with the high school program once the season starts.

About Stroformance:

Stroformance is the most reputable and successful athletic performance training program in the state. Their clientele include many of the most high-profile professional athletes from the state and beyond. They are the place to go for football players who are preparing for the NFL Combine. We are fortunate to have them in our back yard and that they are such avid supporters of Lone Peak sports.

Why focus on Speed more than overall strength and conditioning?

Lacrosse is a tough sport. Endurance, strength, agility and speed are all important. Individual athletes should work on all 4 aspects. However, we believe that "Speed is the tide that raises all boats" (quote from Tony Holler). To understand how speed training applies to lacrosse, please watch this video from Tony Holler - founder of 'Feed the Cats' and a hall of fame high school track coach.

Of course strength, agility and endurance are also important. But as we focus primarily on increasing speed, notable improvements will be found in the other areas. Beyond this program, athletes are encouraged to spend time in the weight room. As part of this program, athletes will be given direction on increasing strength, endurance, nutrition, sleep, etc...

How will this continue after the season starts?

Dave Stroshine will be working with our coaches to continue to implement this program even into the season. This will include measuring and tracking athletes speed metrics. By doing this we are able to identify issues such as fatigue, injury, over-training, etc. that may be impacting the athletes' speed and on-field performance, and may be an indicator of changes that need to be made to help that athlete stay healthy and perform their best.

When will the training sessions be?

Team training sessions will be held on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Exact times will be determined shortly. If an individual athlete is not able to attend the team session, they can schedule time individually through Stroformance. Team sessions will help players keep up their commitment to do the program but will also build a sense of team commitment to overall improvement.

What if I have younger players that want to get started?

The discounted team program is only available to LPHS lacrosse players. Stroformance has programs for athletes of all ages and sports. Contact them and they will refer you to the best program for your younger player.

How do I get started?

Contact Stroformance directly. Specific questions about Stroformance or the program can be directed to Carrie Stroshine (801-915-7682).
