New Players – If you know anyone that wants to begin playing lacrosse, have them reach out to me. We will get them going, including spending some time with them just to teach them some basic skills so they can get working on their own and with their friends. We are always looking for new players. We love lacrosse and want as many boys as possible to benefit from it!
Fall Program
We are still putting together our Fall program, but in short it will consist of the following:
· Conditioning program – Mostly self-paced, but weight rooms will be available at certain times and a program will be provided by a qualified fitness / conditioning coach.
· Fall Practices – We will begin fall practices the first week of September. There is a mandatory moratorium that prevents us from starting before that. With a few exceptions we will practice at least 2x/week through October.
This year there will be a small fee for the Fall Program (amount TBD). This helps pay for helmet rental, supplies, etc. The Fall program is not mandatory, but we strongly encourage boys that are not playing in Fall Sports to participate. The boys that consistently participate come into our regular season much more prepared.
Peak Lacrosse Club
Peak Lacrosse is a non-profit club that has been formed to provide additional lacrosse opportunities to kids in the Highland, Alpine, Cedar Hills communities. It is not affiliated with the High School. All of the Peak activities are fee-based. This helps pay for field rentals, tournament entry fees, referee fees, supplies and a small (very small) stipend for the assistant coaches that help out with the club.
· Fall Scrimmages – Peak Lacrosse club will hold a few scrimmages with other schools in the area during the Fall. These are not a High School activity. If we have enough participants we will have JV-level and Varsity-level scrimmages. The cost per scrimmage is usually around $25.
· IMLAX Quick 6 Tournament – The past few years we have taken one or two teams to the IMLAX Quick 6 tournament. Last year we actually won the tournament! This has been a lot of fun. Cost per player is around $100.
· PEAK 6s League – New this year, we are trying to pull together a 6s league in our area. This will include JV-level and Varsity-level teams from around Utah County and south Salt Lake County. No coaching, just player organized. Games will be on Saturdays. Each team will need at least 10 players. Cost per team is TBD. More info is on its way. If you’d like to be involved in organizing this, please reach out to Paul Aceves.
